VMWare - Hardy Heron (8.04) with working wireless bridge

One of the first thing I encountered after upgrading to Hardy was that vmware (workstation) did not work and that compiling the modules failed. After upgrading to VMWare Workstation 6.03 the compile went through without a hitch. Still the bridge to my wireless adapter did not work (but thats definitely not a hardy problem, let's call ist rather a feature of vmware).

What made me reconsider the statement about this so called feature of non-working wlan-bridges was that some people claimed that it worked on their systems, especially as these were officially supported platforms (suse,rhel).

There is a wlan-bridge patch available at vmkernelnewbies but it fails for my 2.6.24-generic Ubuntu kernel. I stumbled over another patch at xxxx that stated to be for 2.6.24 in general. I tried both of them but none worked when using the ./runme.pl - all tests (?) led to a compile error in vmnet.tar.
